UPDATE:  We are entering at the MAIN Entrance at Castlewood Canyon State Park –  Once you pass the entrance gate\, turn into the parking lot immediately to your right. \nTrail Guides: Liz Konley & Robin Lythgoe\n\nWhat to Expect:\nThis well-maintained trail showcases a stunning mix of landscapes\, from higher elevations in the southeast to lower areas in the northwest. Along the way\, enjoy opportunities for birding and quiet reflection\, especially during less busy hours. \nImportant Regulations: \n\nStay on designated trails to preserve the fragile environment.\nPets\, including dogs\, are not allowed.\nClimbing\, traversing\, or rappelling on rock formations is prohibited.\n\nExperience the serene beauty of Castlewood Canyon while respecting its natural habitat. DESCRIPTION:Discover this beautiful 2.3-mile loop trail near Colorado Springs\, Colorado\, known for its stunning views and fascinating history. The hike is generally considered easy and takes about 1 hour to complete\, making it a perfect morning adventure. \nEvent Details: \n\n\nDeparture Time: 7:00 AM sharp \n\n\nCarpool Meetup: At Home parking lot off I-25 and C-470 \n\n\nTrail Length: 2.3 miles loop \n\n\nEstimated Hike Time: ~1 hour \n\n\nExplore Red Rock Canyon Open Space\, home to an old quarry dating back to the 1800s. Marvel at the enormous geometric cuts in the rock face — some of the largest formations in the park. Along the way\, enjoy excellent views of Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak. The trail is open year-round\, though there is very little shade\, so plan for cooler or cloudy days when possible. \nAdditional Info: \n\n\nDogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. \n\n\nBring water\, snacks\, sun protection\, and wear sturdy shoes. \n\n\nPractice Leave No Trace principles to keep the park pristine for all visitors. \n\n\nJoin us for a refreshing morning hike with great company and beautiful Colorado scenery!

DESCRIPTION:Experience the beauty\, history\, and panoramic views of the Devil’s Head Lookout Trail\, a 2.8-mile out-and-back route near Buffalo Creek\, Colorado. This moderately challenging trail climbs 950 feet in elevation and finishes with a unique climb up 143 stairs to reach Colorado’s only remaining staffed fire lookout tower. This hike is short\, scenic\, and packed with adventure. Come prepared for a rewarding climb and incredible views from one of Colorado’s most iconic lookout points. \nTrail Location: Devil’s Head Lookout TrailheadHike Distance: 2.8 miles totalElevation Gain: 950 ftEstimated Hike Time: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutesDogs: Allowed on leash\, but not permitted on the stairs or at the lookout tower \nThis trail offers a great mix of shaded Aspen and Pine forest\, historical significance\, and stunning 100-mile views of the Rampart Range. Along the way\, you’ll find benches for breaks and a sign marking the halfway point. This is a very popular trail\, so we’ll plan to arrive early and begin hiking shortly after 8:00 AM to avoid heavy crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures. \nGroup Size Limit: This hike is capped at 12 participants to stay within forest service regulations.
