SUMMARY:Metzler Family Open Space Hike
DESCRIPTION:Start your Wednesday with gorgeous sweeping views\, plentiful wildlife and beautiful wildflowers and vegetation at Metzler Family Open Space. This land along Founders Parkway and Crowfoot Valley Road is truly a treasure. The Metzler family is credited as an original settler in the Castle Rock area. Originally built in 1899\, the homestead was the home of Bob and Rosemary Metzler. The siblings grew up on the property when it was still being used for ranching and dairy operations. Both Bob and Rosemary had distinguished careers in education. Bob was elected the Superintendent of Douglas County Schools in 1952\, and Rosemary taught in Douglas County for more than 30 years. The siblings were third-generation Coloradans who had a passion for education\, the community\, and parks and recreation.\n\n\nCastle Rock developed 4 miles of native-surface\, single-track trails throughout the property and straightened the silo\, as its preservation was requested by Mr. Metzler. The trails are now open for hikers\, mountain bikers and walkers with dogs on leash. Due to the distance and steep sections\, this hike is best suited for those with hiking experience. Join us for our Walk-a-Thon at the Reuter-Hess Incline — a fun\, social way to explore the outdoors and connect with other adventurous women in our community! \nWe’ll tackle the 1.2-mile loop near Parker\, Colorado — a beginner-friendly route that takes about 30-40 minutes to complete. From the Rosie Reuter Trailhead\, we’ll cruise along the Rosie Reuter Trail before taking on the Incline Challenge Trail\, featuring 132 steps to get your heart pumping! Aside from the stairs\, the trail is easygoing with scenic views and wide paths. \nWhether you’re looking to meet new friends\, build confidence outdoors\, or just enjoy a walk-and-talk\, this is for you! Sweat a little\, laugh a lot\, and leave feeling accomplished. \nNo dogs allowed on the incline\, so leave the pups at home for this one. The area is open sunrise to sunset with porta-potties available at the parking lot. \nPerfect for new members! Bring your water bottle\, comfy shoes\, and a can-do attitude — we can’t wait to see you there!

DESCRIPTION:Crested Butte to Aspen Hiking Weekend\nAn unforgettable wildflower-season trek through Colorado’s most iconic alpine pass. \nReady to cross this bucket list hike off your list? Join our women’s hiking crew for a weekend adventure from Crested Butte to Aspen\, featuring stunning mountain views\, peak wildflower season\, and a seriously rewarding challenge. \nThis 12-mile hike starts in Crested Butte and takes you through the breathtaking West Maroon Pass\, climbing over 2\,500 feet in elevation and ending at the iconic Maroon Bells near Aspen. But don’t worry about the logistics — we’ve got everything covered so you can focus on the experience. \n Trip Includes:\n\n2 nights of lodging\n\n\n\n\nFriday in Crested Butte (Single twin bunk beds in dormitory style setting with shared bathroom and kitchen)\nSaturday in Glenwood Springs (in Airbnb home: shared beds may include King or Queen; single beds may include Twin or couch pull-out\, and shared bathrooms)\n\n\n\n\nAll transportation\n\n\n\n\nPassenger van and driver round trip from Parker to Crested Butte/Aspen\nRide to trailhead (14 miles from town)\nShuttle bus (RFTA with pass) from Maroon Bells to Aspen parking structure\nVan pickup in Aspen and drive to Glenwood Springs\nReturn to Parker on Sunday\n\n\n\n\nEntry to Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs – bring your swimsuit\, unwind and relax post-hike!\nFood included for the weekend:\n\n\n\n\nFriday dinner\nSaturday breakfast\, trail snacks\, lunch\, and dinner\nSunday breakfast\n\n\n\n*Friday lunch and Sunday lunch will be paid for by the participant – we will stop on our drive to/from locations. SUMMARY:Hike Devil's Head
DESCRIPTION:Experience the beauty\, history\, and panoramic views of the Devil’s Head Lookout Trail\, a 2.8-mile out-and-back route near Buffalo Creek\, Colorado. This moderately challenging trail climbs 950 feet in elevation and finishes with a unique climb up 143 stairs to reach Colorado’s only remaining staffed fire lookout tower. This hike is short\, scenic\, and packed with adventure. Come prepared for a rewarding climb and incredible views from one of Colorado’s most iconic lookout points. \nTrail Location: Devil’s Head Lookout TrailheadHike Distance: 2.8 miles totalElevation Gain: 950 ftEstimated Hike Time: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutesDogs: Allowed on leash\, but not permitted on the stairs or at the lookout tower \nThis trail offers a great mix of shaded Aspen and Pine forest\, historical significance\, and stunning 100-mile views of the Rampart Range. Along the way\, you’ll find benches for breaks and a sign marking the halfway point. This is a very popular trail\, so we’ll plan to arrive early and begin hiking shortly after 8:00 AM to avoid heavy crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures. \nGroup Size Limit: This hike is capped at 12 participants to stay within forest service regulations.
