SUMMARY:Hike at Saint Mary's Glacier
DESCRIPTION:Discover the breathtaking beauty of Saint Mary’s Glacier on this 1.7-mile out-and-back hike near Idaho Springs\, Colorado. This short but rewarding adventure climbs over 500 feet in less than a mile\, making it a moderately challenging trek with big alpine payoffs. \nThe rocky trail leads to a stunning high-alpine lake and glacier\, surrounded by dramatic mountain views. It’s a beautiful spot to pause\, take photos\, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. For those who want a little more adventure\, there is an option to continue beyond the glacier and explore higher terrain—we’ll decide as a group how far we want to go. \nBecause this hike sits at over 10\,000 feet in elevation\, expect thinner air and changing mountain conditions. Take your time\, breathe deeply\, and enjoy the journey. \nTrail Details: \n\nDistance: 1.7 miles (round trip to the glacier)\nElevation Gain: 500+ feet\nDifficulty: Moderate\nTerrain: Rocky\, steep in sections\, and often snowy or icy\n\nWhat to Bring: \n\nMicrospikes or snowshoes depending on conditions\nTrekking poles\nWarm layers\nWater and snacks\nSunglasses and sun protection\n\nMeetup and Parking:\nWe will meet as a group at the trailhead (not in the parking lots). Parking is $20 per car (cash or electronic payment). The two parking lots fill up quickly\, so organizing carpools in our private FB group is highly encouraged. \nImportant Notes: \n\nThe trail climbs steeply to the alpine lake before reaching the glacier.\nThe area can be windy and much colder than Denver\, so dress in layers.\nPlease stay on durable surfaces and respect the fragile alpine environment.\nThis hike may be short\, but the views are unforgettable—perfect for anyone wanting a quick adventure with a big mountain feel!\n\nTrail Guides: Kaylene Macias and  Denise Reynolds
