Depending on the weather\, we’ll hike or snowshoe—either way\, it’s going to be an amazing day! \nThis is a well-maintained trail that offers a rewarding challenge with its 1\,000 feet of elevation gain and a few steep sections. Let’s hope she delivers a winter wonderland to kick off the season! \nThis beautiful hike begins with a gradual climb through scrub oaks on the South Rim Trail\, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the rock formations from above.  As we descend\, we’ll connect to Willow Creek Trail\, a great spot to look for deer grazing\, before looping back pas the visitor center.  From there\, we’ll continue on the Fountain Valley Loop\, where you’ll get up close to the iconic rock formations. \nDetails & Reminders \n\nTrailhead: Roxborough State Park (park at the trailhead before or below the visitor center)\nTrail Conditions:  Many sections are shaded\, with a chance for packed snow and icy patches. This 4.9-mile out-and-back trail winds through Alderfer Three Sisters Park\, known for its peaceful forested paths\, rocky ascents\, and jaw-dropping views. \n\nTrailhead: Alderfer/Three Sisters Park – East Trailhead  30357 Buffalo Park Rd\, Evergreen\, CO 80439\nThe West Trailhead & adjacent roadside parking will be closed from 5/2025 to 1/2026. Parking will remain open at the East Trailhead & during non-school hours at Wilmot Elementary School. This is a very popular area for hiking\, mountain biking\, and running\, so you’ll likely encounter other people while exploring. Dogs are welcome\, but must be on a leash. \nThis is an amazing trail that takes one to Red Rocks via the Cherry Gulch. The trail features varying topography and stunning views. The terrain has some rocky sections with steady inclines. Wildflowers galore during the spring and you can expect to see a variety of beautiful vibrant flowers. Our guides will not only help you reach that summit\, but will help you prepare for the trip by providing your packing list\, gear recommendations\, and how to prepare you body for the climb. Your registration also covers transportation\, gas\, and lunch. Join us and check off this epic trip from your bucket list! Fun fact: Mt Sherman is the only fourteener that has had a successful aircraft landing on its summit. We do not recommend this activity if you have not been consistently hiking or otherwise exercising. Meet at 2:45am at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Parker. We leave promptly at 3:00am.

SUMMARY:Waterton Canyon
DESCRIPTION:Waterton Canyon Trail is a wide and flat service road through a rich corridor of wildlife just outside Denver and serves as the gateway for the Colorado Trail. You may encounter numerous bighorn sheep\, mule deer\, smaller mammals\, over 40 species of birds\, and more. The trail passes by six picnic areas before its turnaround point near the dam. Dogs are not allowed in order to protect bighorn sheep. This is an out and back trail 12 1/2 miles long. We will walk as far as the group decides and then turn back. Carpool meetup at Sportsman’s Warehouse with a departure time of 7:30am. The trailhead is a 25 minute drive.
