Come Explore, Connect, & Thrive With Us!

The Women’s Adventure Club (WAC) is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2024, dedicated to helping women incorporate movement into their lives through supportive outdoor community experiences. We believe there’s no one right way to be active—whether it’s hiking a mountain, biking a scenic trail, paddling on the water, or taking a walk with friends, movement should feel good and be accessible to all.

We host free, weekly adventures like hiking, biking, paddleboarding, snowshoeing, and trail running, along with structured training programs to help women reach personal goals—like running a 5k, climbing a 14er, or completing a sprint triathlon. Our monthly special events offer even more ways to try something new, from self-defense and Nordic skiing to pickleball or a Moab retreat.

Our events are about joy, not performance—because when women move their bodies, connect with others, and spend time in nature, the benefits go far beyond fitness. Success isn’t measured in pace or miles; it’s about showing up and doing what feels right for you, in a community that supports your well-being, inside and out.

Led entirely by passionate volunteers, WAC is a welcoming space for all women—cis, trans, and non-binary individuals who align with womanhood. We believe in the power of women supporting women—and we’re here to grow stronger, together.

How Movement Supports Mental Health
Regular movement is one of the most effective ways to support your mental health. Exercise lowers cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone, while boosting brain chemicals like endorphins and serotonin that improve mood and reduce anxiety. Physical activity also increases blood flow to the brain, enhancing focus, memory, and mental clarity. Research shows that people who exercise regularly experience lower rates of depression and anxiety, along with better sleep and resilience to stress.
The Power of Sunshine and Nature
Spending time outdoors is a proven mood booster. Sunshine helps your body produce vitamin D, which supports brain health and lowers the risk of depression, while fresh air and green spaces reduce stress hormones and ease anxiety. Studies also show that being in nature improves focus, lowers negative thought patterns, and promotes overall emotional wellbeing.
Why Community Matters
Strong social connections are one of the most reliable predictors of good mental health. Research shows that people with meaningful friendships experience lower rates of depression, anxiety, and stress-related illness. Supportive relationships also trigger the release of oxytocin, a hormone that promotes feelings of trust, safety, and wellbeing. In fact, social support has been linked to better emotional resilience, faster recovery from illness, and even longer life expectancy.

Take a Look at Our Community!

We offer more than just activities — we provide a welcoming community and unforgettable experiences. Many women feel nervous about joining at first, but that quickly fades once they meet our friendly members and experience the warm, supportive atmosphere. Our members know that when they attend an event, they’re joining a group of women who have their back and share their enthusiasm for adventure.

This strong sense of community is a key reason why women are drawn to our events and return again and again. Join us and see for yourself why the Women’s Adventure Club is more than just an adventure group; it’s a place where friendships are forged, confidence is built, and memories are made. We can’t wait to welcome you to your next adventure with us.

How Did The Women's Adventure Club Start?

In January 2023 I was friendless and my mental health was in the gutter. I had spent the previous months in an intense five hours a day mental health program to assist me with Postpartum Psychosis, Anxiety, and PTSD Nightmares. To say I had hit rock bottom would be a gross understatement. I had been going for eight years undiagnosed, untreated, and unmedicated. I felt like I was drowning and was too afraid to ask for help; terrified that if someone knew how dark my thoughts were I’d be sent away and locked up for good.

Luckily for me, a visiting family member could tell I wasn’t myself and I needed help. She held my hand while I sobbed and dialed an emergency mental health hotline. That started a long path to recovery that has since turned my life around. While undergoing treatment and counseling, it became increasingly clear that I was missing key elements in my life. I needed  friends, exercise, and sunshine. And I needed to find a way to get it for myself. I saw an ad for a team relay race that spurred a lightbulb moment in my mind. Despite not running in ages, being completely out of shape, and having no idea how to train for high elevation relay runs, I decided I was going to run it. And I was going to find friends to do it with… Read More

Liz is a Colorado native who has always felt most at home outdoors. As an adult, she began sharing her favorite adventures with friends, hoping they would discover the same joy, confidence, and renewal she finds in nature.  As WAC’s Event Director, she channels that passion into creating opportunities for women to connect, challenge themselves, and find renewal in the outdoors.
