CANCELED Hike/Snowshoe at Chief Mountain Trail near Evergreen

With the impending storm and potentially hazardous road conditions expected tomorrow morning, we’ve decided to cancel the Chief Mountain hike in Evergreen.
Bundle up and join us for a Wednesday snowshoe trek (IF we get snow) to the summit of Chief Mountain, where 360° views of the Rockies make every step worth it! This short but rewarding route takes you through the quiet pines of the Arapaho National Forest before breaking above tree line for breathtaking vistas of Pikes Peak, Longs Peak, and beyond.
The trail is rocky, well-maintained, and offers a moderate challenge with big-time scenery. It’s the perfect winter adventure to stretch your legs, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and soak in those sweeping alpine views.
Trail Details:
- Distance: ~3 miles round trip
- Elevation Gain: ~1,000 feet
- Difficulty: Moderate
- Challenges: Short, steep sections and limited roadside parking
Carpool Information:
Parking at the trailhead is limited—we’ll carpool from Mike’s Bikes in Highlands Ranch, departing promptly at 7:45 AM. Address: 2030 E County Line Rd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126
What to Bring:
- Sturdy boots or trail shoes
- Snowshoes and micro spikes (conditions dependent)
- Trekking poles
- Warm layers, hat, and gloves
- Water and snacks
Trail Guides: Alison Cagaanan and Robin Lythgoe
Come ready for a true Colorado winter adventure—a short climb with big views and great company!
