Waterton Canyon

Waterton Canyon Trail is a wide and flat service road through a rich corridor of wildlife just outside Denver and serves as the gateway for the Colorado Trail. You may encounter numerous bighorn sheep, mule deer, smaller mammals, over 40 species of birds, and more. The trail passes by six picnic areas before its turnaround point near the dam. Dogs are not allowed in order to protect bighorn sheep. This is an out and back trail 12 1/2 miles long. We will walk as far as the group decides and then turn back. Carpool meetup at Sportsman’s Warehouse with a departure time of 7:30am. The trailhead is a 25 minute drive.
