Ecological Park & Creek Play
September 3 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
FreeCherry Creek Valley Ecological Park is a nature preserve with a section of Cherry Creek running through it, as well as the Cherry Creek Regional Trail. Mile High Flood District has designed the creek’s stream bank and floodplain to increase flood protection for nearby homes and to improve water quality for wildlife. Step into a riparian area in the middle of town and view the native plant and animal species that thrive along Cherry Creek. The park’s variety of wetland and upland habitats provide homes for numerous birds, reptiles and amphibians as well as many mammal species. The park features a gazebo with views of the Cherry Creek watershed, picnic tables and soft surface trail loops for walking, jogging and observing nature. The longest walking path in the park is 1.1 miles. The park also has a small fishing pond. Adventures await in the Creekside Quest natural play area, with play features including kid-sized homestead log cabin and Native American teepees. The creek’s sculptured concrete boulders and sandbars provide creek crossings and a variety of water play opportunities during the summer.
