Maxwell Falls Hike – Explore Evergreen’s Waterfall Trail

Join us for a scenic adventure on the Maxwell Falls Trail, a 3.9-mile loop nestled in the foothills near Evergreen, Colorado. This moderately challenging, lollipop-style route winds through beautiful forested terrain and treats you to not one—but three stunning waterfalls, including the picturesque Upper Maxwell Falls.

This hike is a fantastic option for a weekend escape from the city and offers a perfect mix of nature, movement, and community. The trail leaves from the lower trailhead on Black Mountain Road, where you’ll find a large parking area. Keep in mind, there are no restrooms, water, or trash cans at the trailhead—so plan ahead and be ready to pack out everything you bring (including dog waste).

Expect to share the trail with other hikers and horseback riders, especially during the popular spring through fall season. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join the adventure.
