Hike or Snowshoe Fountain Valley Loop

Explore Stunning Rock Formations and Wildlife!
Join us for a scenic hike on the Fountain Valley Loop near Louviers, Colorado. If snow is present, we’ll snowshoe. If the trail is clear, we’ll hike. Please bring snowshoes, hiking shoes, and micro spikes to be prepared for either condition. This 2.6-mile trail winds through the beautiful Fountain and Lyons rock formations, offering incredible views and a serene outdoor experience.

  • Trail Length: 2.6 miles
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Duration: ~1 hour 5 minutes
  • Entry Fee: Roxborough State Park charges an entry fee unless you have a state parks pass.
  • Meetup Location: Stroh Ranch Soccer Fields (departure at 7:20 AM for carpooling).

What to Expect:

  • Walk through diverse habitats teeming with wildlife, including mule deer, foxes, and birds. Keep an eye out for golden eagles soaring above the rock formations!
  • Discover buildings built by Henry S. Persse at the turn of the century, adding a historical touch to the hike.
  • The trail is wide and well-maintained, with gravel surfaces and moderate elevation changes.

  • No dogs or bikes are allowed on this trail to preserve the area’s natural beauty.
  • This hike offers “Garden of the Gods” vibes, featuring blossoming flowers, vibrant greenery, and breathtaking rock formations.
