Hike: Rim Rock Trail to Creek Trail Loop
January 11 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 pm
Free
Get ready for a 4.3-mile adventure through the stunning Castlewood Canyon State Park, located near Franktown, Colorado! This moderately challenging loop trail takes you through scenic landscapes, from creek-side views and a charming waterfall to sweeping vistas above the canyon. With an average completion time of 1 hour and 52 minutes, this hike is perfect for those looking to connect with nature while getting a good workout.
The first half of the trail follows a creek, where you’ll enjoy peaceful moments by the water and admire the small waterfall along the way. As you continue, the trail ascends above the canyon, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Be prepared for elevation changes and rocky sections with steps—sturdy hiking boots are a must! For those wanting to carpool, we will meet at the Stroh Ranch Soccer Fields with a departure time of 8:40am.
Important Reminder: As this is a popular spot for birding, hiking, and running, you’ll likely share the path with other outdoor enthusiasts. Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash. Also, be sure to bring microspikes if winter conditions are present, and always keep an eye out for rock piles that mark the way if the path isn’t clear.
