Manitou Incline Training
Because You Can Do Hard Things
The Manitou Incline has been hailed as the holy grail of cardio and in considered one of the highest sets of stairs in the world! Over the course of this 6 week program, you will build your strength to tackle all 2,744 steps at the Manitou Incline! Our team-centered workouts focus on more than just climbing stairs – though there will be plenty of that too! You will be building your core strength with weights, bands, and body resistance. Over the course of this 10 week training program, you’ll be squatting, sprinting, lifting, laughing, and climbing together – all in preparation to conquer the mother of all inclines. On November 10th we’ll carpool Manitou to take on the challenge! After we finish the climb, we’ll celebrate with a much deserved team luncheon in Manitou Springs. (Luncheon not covered in registration).
What are Training Programs with WAC like? The Women’s Adventure Club was founded on the principle of supportive group fitness – where every woman exercises at her own pace while being surrounded by supportive women and the great outdoors. With our programs, you will never be last of left behind. We have two coaches, with one always at the back. You job is to show up and push your body at whatever level that is right for you. You are perfect and fit enough to join us just as you are. We don’t judge, we don’t compare, we don’t focus on speed or time. We DO focus on fun, friendship, and pushing yourself each week.

Completed in 1907, the Manitou Incline was once a cable tram built to support the construction of a hydroelectric plant and its waterline. In 1929, well after the plant’s construction, the railway became a tourist attraction, hauling visitors up the mountain to experience its “scenic splendors.”
Now, the Manitou Incline is a world-wide attraction challenging even the strongest of athletes. With an average grade of 45% and ranges from 41%-68% grade this is an extremely difficult workout. The old railroad track consists of 2,768 steps made entirely of railroad ties. equating to about 150 flights of stairs!
